Had a nice chat with my Mum yesterday. My Mum has lived on Sydenham longer than any other resident, she moved here in 1946!!!! when she got here there were only 30 houses on Sydenham!! they were so new they still haden,t put the house no. on the doors!! her brand new neighbour was Harry seirle, (later of the parkway chip shop) to get from her house to town the workmen had to help her and the pram across the mud to Bath rd. lol there was a cafe across the road where the workmen (and mum could have a cuppa) none of the New houses had electricty or gas connected!!!, i do wish she would write it all down as it is a part of our history, anybody with a leaning for this type of history ought to help get this sort of thing documented, anybody interested? (she still goes uptown to do her shopping lol )
