Had an interesting experience today. As I was changing back into my clothes after radiation, I noticed that the bandage over my IV port connection was loose at the bottom. It also looked like there was a little blood showing, so we went up to the chemo infusion lab to have it looked at. Seems that the needle had sort of pulled out of the port (vein) and the nurse could not get any blood return after she shut off the pump. So, she took out the needle and put in a new one, got a good blood return and reconnected the port. So glad I noticed the problem while we were there. Otherwise we would be meeting someone there later this evening when I finally noticed the issue. That is what they consider an emergency. Oops.
