Had dinner at Da Marcos yesterday and it was as usual extremely tasty. I ordered the current set menu pictured below. Although the place is a bit hidden on the Darkside of Pattaya (drive up Sukhumvit 89 for about 3 km until you see a sign on the right hand side for Swiss Sabai Resort / Da Marco. Turn right into the small road and then drive another 500 meters. Although there are two steps going into the restaurant, the place can also be accessed through a gate on the side, avoiding those steps. I ordered the current set menu: shrimp cocktail, beef tender loin, and coup denmark (vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce). The shrimp cocktail was on a bed of fresh lettuce, with a tasty cocktail sauce and warm shrimps. The steak was Australian beef, perfectly cooked rare, just the way I like it. Very flavorful. Im not a big fan of sweets and desserts, so the big scoop of ice cream with chocolate and whipped cream was a bit too much for me. I couldnt finish it. All in all a great deal at 550 baht. Their wine list is rather impressive as well, with wines from many different countries (including a St. Saphorin from Switzerland and a Veltliner from Austria). The majority of the wines are from Italy and are priced between 1,500 to 2,000 Baht. The top wine is an Italian Ornellaia for 3,400 baht. The staff has been there since the restaurant opened about 3 years ago; for me thats always a good sign. They are very friendly and work well together. The kitchen is part of the dining room so you get to see Marco prepare all the dishes right in front of you. He is extremely professional and a pleasure to watch in action. This restaurant has become my favorite one on this side of Sukhumvit. Great food in a relaxing atmosphere. I cant recommend it highly enough. Since the restaurant is not all that big, tables often fill up quickly. I recommend calling ahead to make a reservation.
