Haiti is a real mess. People are blaming aristide for haitis current condition. That is foolishness and a lack of geopolitical insight. Martelly is in place to Institute neoliberal policies in haiti. None of the policies he has and is implementing are his. They were devised by economists at Oxford University and bill clinton. The same policies, tourism, agribusiness, and textile production, of the duvalier regime. Such policies promote the creation and sustainability of a wealthy class, a comprador (frantz fanon s term) educated middle class, and the working poor, which sustains the whole regime. I, as did aristide, castro, che guevara, etc., find such a system to be immoral...you are exchanging slavery for wage slavery. Individual wealth should not come at the expense of the masses who live in dire poverty bcuz of government policy!!!! No man should be worth billions at the expense of children starving and dying bcuz they can not afford healthcare. America is a classic case of what unfolds in such a system...criminality, poverty amongst plenty, greed, and high incarcerations! In the words of Thomas sankara kick out the west and let africans work the land to make a more equitable africa...in our case a more equitable haiti. Not a haiti that adopts the pathologies of the west!
