Haley Mertins and her fiancé, Matthew Husband, will be taking lead of the youth program while Teer stays up every night taking care of his new baby boy! Haley graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Psychology in 2012 and has been working with the senior high youth here at Aldersgate since March. Matthew is a Virginia Tech graduate and spent this past year in Port Elizabeth, South Africa working with a non-profit organization called Grassroot Soccer (GRS). GRS uses the power of soccer to teach kids about HIV/AIDS. At the end of Matthew’s stint in South Africa he and Haley reunited in France where they chaperoned the senior high catechism class trip to the Taize Community. Both have been radically changed by God’s love in the past few years and have a yearning to share His love and their faith with the youth. They were both heavily involved with Campus Ministries while in College and hope to tap into the same enthusiasm that only youth can bring! Matthew and Haley are very excited to work with the youth, but are definitely in need of your support. Youth please assist Matthew and Haley by attending events and parents try and extend a helping hand whenever possible.
