Half time at Old Trafford, and despite an early goal and a flying tifo, Manchester United will go into the second half with a 2-1 lead over Aston Villa. Wayne Rooney scored both goals for the hosts, the second from the penalty spot, as United look to end what has been a terrible week by their lofty standards with a win. Ashley Westwood opened the scoring with a 14th minute free kick. Should be interesting to see if the hosts can extend their lead, or whether Villa can pull back the deficit. Runners are behind the gates for the Group 2 Dubai Gold Cup over 3200 metres. A relatively new race added to the World Cup card, Godolphin again has dominated this race, with last years winner Cavalryman back to defend his crown, and is favourite based on his win in the Nad Al Sheba Classic, the traditional lead up for this race. Ballydoyle present a very interesting runner in Ernest Hemmingway, with Aidan OBrien looking to win first up over two miles, while Simenon and Joshua Tree are the other runners under double figures. Tough race to pick, going with Simenon here.
