Hall Road Rangers entertained their local rivals Bridlington town on Saturday in a thrilling game of football down at the John Moore Security Stadium. The Seasiders ran out 2-4 winners on the day in very hot testing conditions. Gary Allanson’s Brid were always going to be a tough test for the newly formed Ranger side but despite the score line Ranger’s gave their opponents a good workout. With Andy Foster and Lee Hastings both enjoying their holiday’s pre the start of the Season it was Darren Hemmings who took charge from the dugout for Rangers. “It was a good yardstick to see where the club wanted to go with Hall Road playing with a philosophy with young players whilst not neglecting what experience senior players can bring to the table, it’s about having a mix “The club are in a transition process, developing phase where we are trying to create a solid foundations for the club, and develop an infrastructure which we think will bring the club success in the future” “The game reflected how far we have come this summer with a big turnover of players we still competed against a good footballing side” “We tried to play football the right way today and do all the little things right. Football was the real winner as we knew any side coached by Gary would come and play an attractive brand of football. “After a successful pre season there are many positives to carry forward into the start of the season next week.” It took until the 35th minute for deadlock to be broken though as Hall Road soaked up mounting Bridlington pressure. The scoring was opened by ex Rangers player Ben Silburn who slotted neatly home past keeper Ryan Ramsden. With words being said at half time Bridlington held the lead until only the 48th minute when returning to fitness James Gemmel levelled the score. If the second half had been dominated by Bridlington for periods then Rangers had their own periods in the second half. Despite several good appeals for penalties nothing was forthcoming and it was Bridlington who got their noses back in front first. Ash Allanson put the seasiders back in the lead again on 65 minutes before on form striker Ben Kingsley equalised again for Rangers on 68 minutes. A penalty was awarded on 84 minutes and Scott Phillips stepped up to take the spot kick. Rangers Keeper Ramsden saved the initial shot but couldn’t gather the rebound quick enough to stop Phillips tucking the ball away. Silburn got his second of the game with virtually the last kick on 90 minutes. Rangers next entertain Hessle Rangers at the John Moore Security Stadium on Tuesday 6th August in their last preseason warm-up. Kick off will be 7:30pm
