Hallelujah! Thank goodness for the Labour Party! Fear ye not all - TopicsExpress

Hallelujah! Thank goodness for the Labour Party! Fear ye not all fellow down trodden teachers. The Labour Party has realised that the solution to poor education is to realise the value of us teachers. That our skills, our dedication, our care for what we do is what provides the answer. The thing that over thirty years in the profession, working an average of fifty plus hours a week (and the next person that mentions the holidays, is definitely off my party list), has allowed me to offer and experience at first hand. BUT how are they going to recognise that???? Less prescription? No more academies with their privatisation commercialism with children as units? More pay to recognise we are the same valued profession as lawyers, doctors, dentists (DENTISTS.....nothing personal but when did the GDP of the country get a boost from their contribution to a generations education....Ah, we have the best crowns and flossing technique in the western world so that will keep us top of the G7)? More willingness to allow us to be creative in the curriculum and integrate literacy and numeracy appropriate to the needs of our children? And so on....NO! The answer, the simple and mind blowing solution!!!!!!!! (Hold yourself folks......) A COMPASS .... A compass to remind us of the solemn and binding oath we have taken to dedicate ourselves to the honourable profession we have chosen. That is it, cricket (aka David Carradine)...you have achieved the highest level of spiritual guidance I can offer. Feel free to walk the earth imparting wisdom and knowledge and l will bow down saying, but look....he has the ..pass. Just like those in Singapore and we all know what bright little kids they are!!! Dear Mr March! I have a suggestion where you may place your compass and gutless suggestions. Unfortunately neither will be of much use where I am considering you place them. Although, fear ye not. You wont be alone because you will be in the company of the Conservative party policies and ministers with whom you seem to share the same mind set! So dear colleagues, friends and fellow teachers. Just remember that whilst we may have to wait a little longer to receive the public accolades we may deserve, the approbation of politicians, the trust of Governments and a work load that encouraged 90% of interviewed teachers to say they have considered leaving the profession we may still have the virtue of knowing we are doing something we care about for people we care about. Because guess what Mr March...I think that the guiding light of what we teachers do has been burning pretty brightly for quite a while, certainly in the thirty-three years I have been doing the job. So like your Tory colleagues....dont patronise, badger, bully or belittle us further. But listen to all of us who have dedicated ourselves to children with an inner moral compass that we already have!!!!! Hallelujah!!!!!
