Hamas, the ruling party in the Gaza Strip, does not deserve the bad reputation that they have. They are fighting against Israeli oppression and systematic poverty and hunger. Hamas has done amazing things with their social welfare wing, including offering schooling to children regardless of gender. Are they radical Islamists? Well of course. But when you have to evaluate who the good guys are between Islamists giving people education, food stamps, housing, and security versus Israel, who is bombing Palestine incessantly, offering no reparations for the property stolen from the Palestinians, well I think Hamas comes out on top.
