Handing in my narcotic keys tonight hurt unbelievably bad! It was probably the last time I will be entrusted w keys because at 8pm I worked my last shift at Alliance EMS. I was given the choice of greatly reduced pay (which we werent making average paramedic wages and for the first time never received a raise Im the 1 1/2 yrs I worked there) or drawing unemployment. Alliance ALS is no more after this week! The reason I say I will no longer carry narcotic keys is only because of the fact that I just turned 60 yrs old. Yes. Im proud of my age b/c basically Im very healthy. No back problems. Dont act my age....haha! But truly, even tho its illegal to not hire me b/c of age, it happens. Thats why Im not working for Princess Cruise Lines. I get it. Im screwed. I will miss my 2nd family at Alliance!!! I have made wonderful friends in my coworkers and love them all! Thank you Jay Podell for hiring me! Thank you Pam Chumley, Swirv Podell, and all employees! To the Advanced EMTS who have not finished....... DO IT NOW! William Howard Thank you for being awesome!!!
