Handle With Care by The Traveling Wilburys (1988) The Traveling Wilburys, that wonderful band that began almost as a game at the end of the eighties, in a radio interview in February 1988. When Harrison was asked what he planned to do after his album Cloud Nine, Harrison said, What Id really like to do next is ... make an album with some of my friends ... some songs, you know. The idea took shape, and following a meal between Harrison, Jeff Lynne, the leader of the band, Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) he had produced the latest albums by George Harrison and Roy Orbison a star of the first times of Rock and Roll, the three decided to meet in personal recording studio of Bob Dylan in Malibu (California), to record the B-side single This Is Love from the album of George Harrison, Cloud Nine. Tom Pettys involvement was also a coincidence, since Harrison had left his guitar at Toms apartment, and they both went together to the study of Bob Dylan. The song was recorded, Handle with Care. However, it was decided that the song was too good to be relegated to the B side of a single. The musicians decided to record a full album under the title of Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1, and composed of the five band members, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, and Roy Orbison. The album was recorded in ten days in the garden and home, Eurythmics member Dave Stewart. They renamed the new band by the name of The Traveling Wilburys. The joke about the term Wilbury was further expanded when the group members were credited under pseudonyms and pretending to be brothers, sons of Charles Truscott Wilbury Mr. Nelson Wilbury George Harrison = Lefty Wilbury = Roy Orbison Otis Wilbury Jeff Lynne = Charlie T.
