Handling Criticism "Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us." 1st Peter 2:12 In life, it is inevitable to avoid criticism and we need to realize that critics will always be amongst us. Criticism can consume our lives to the point of emotional paralysis in that you are always worrying about what others are saying about you. The interesting thing about criticism is that it can be avoided easily- by saying nothing, doing nothing and being nothing and yet we are expected to perform well in all we do. Trying to please everyone means that we will never move forward. We need to realize that if one is in a position of leadership, to stand out there will be a point where tough decisions have to be made even though they will make some people upset we need. We therefore need to live lives that are exemplary so that no-one can place blame on faults that through Christ’s help can be made better. The apostle Peter understood the dangers of criticism as it can break a person until they end up not performing well. In the book of Peter, he clearly outlines how one should handle themselves amongst people; by living such good lives that even though we are accused of doing wrong our good deeds will speak for us. Remember, if we keep doing what isright by being diligent and responsible then we need not fear what others think or what the critics say.
