To be taught what prayer is not the first thing to happen before you know what it is to pray. Most of our lives we have been taught the wrong way to pray by religion. We pray according to religion and complain instead of praying. Religion has even taught us to fast in order for God to provide solution to our problems when in actual fact we fast so that we become more spiritual. So many times you have been encouraged to fast for your problems but the truth of the matter is that you will be going on a hunger strike because you cannot motivate God. It is about His love. You waste time fasting for things you already have because you are not aware that you already have them. God has already moved, all He is waiting for is your testimony. All your needs have already been catered for and you do not need to fast for them. You fast to strengthen your relationship with God and not to move God into responding to your personal request. When you pray be fully aware of the fact that you will be talking to your father not a stranger. You should not be afraid of Him but you should respect Him. You should also know His offices and know the right office to approach for specific needs. You need to understand your father’s capacity, you should not doubt Him. He is capable no matter the situation He is able to wipe away every problem immediately. You have to understand that it is never about your effort but what God is capable of doing.
