Hank, our friend Andy and I saw Into the Woods today, directed by a fellow Carnegie-Mellon actor Rob Marshal... cmu.edu/homepage/creativity/2014/fall/ready-for-the-journey.shtml Beautifully filmed and directed, acted and sung. Rob chose people for this play to movie endeavor who, except Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp, are not household names (at least for me), and are actually talented and suited to their roles. (Please dont get me started on Les Mis...but thats another discussion.) The weakest link for me was Meryl Streep...there was so much of what she did that I didnt believe. But other than that a tremendous accomplishment. Johnny Depp and Tracy Ullman were perfect. I cant believe Ive never seen the stage version of this...what a great story. And when I read that Rob ran 6 weeks of rehearsal it made me want to work with him...bad...can you hear me Rob? Anyway...the rehearsal time showed. I thought it was beautifully done. :)
