Hannibal Collins Adventure Walk, 12/27/13 Hi Deb! Thank you so much for sponsoring a walk for Hannibal Collins or as I liked to call him Hani. What a super sweet and fun dog he was! He is a 2 year old pit bull. When I first leashed him up and let him out of his kennel he was super excited. He bounced around and was ready to get going. When I opened the back hatch to my car he immediately put his paws up. I had to lift him in because he couldnt quite make the jump. He rode in the car like a pro! He was not anxious or nervous at all. Once we made it to reedy creek he hopped right out of the car. We ran into another handler with a shelter dog. They love each other. We let them play a little before we parted ways. Once we split Hani decided he wanted to play tug with the leash. He pulled and pulled and I pulled right back. He was having too much fun! Once I thought it was time to stop tugging so we could continue our hike he kept on going. He eventually released the leash once I grabbed his collar. We hiked towards belle isle. On the way we ran into another handler with two more shelter dogs. We decided to continue our hike together because the dogs did really well together. We ventured across the bridge to belle isle. We spent some time on the rocks at first break rapids. He explored the rocks finding sticks and checking out the water. He engaged in another game of leash tug when we started to head back. We played for a little bit and then we headed back to reedy creek and eventually to the car. On the ride back he layed in the back seat. He was ready to relax and snuggle up. He is certainly a snuggly and loving boy! He was a great passenger on the way home. He was very calm and relaxed. Hannibal is going to make an excellent addition to a family with other dogs. He is a very loving, sweet and friendly pit bull. He certainly breaks the stereotype for his breed. He does well with people, dogs and even children we, encountered a few on our hike too. Whoever adopts him is in for a treat. Thanks again for making this special hike possible for this awesome dog. Hannibal is available with Richmond Animal Care and Control.
