Happened to sit next to a Physics Professor in my flight to London (What are the odds of that?). He was delighted to know that I am starting a PhD in Physics. As specific advice he told me this wonderful story, Einstein and Heisenberg, two of Physics greatest minds were taking a walk in a corridor chatting. They saw a metal globe near an open window of the corridor. To their surprise, the side facing the sun was cool and the side that was away was warm. They were taken aback by this strange observation and brainstormed the reason behind such a peculiar phenomenon for sometime without success. The custodian of the building came and asked them what was wrong. The gentlemen questioned him, How does this strange heating effect happen? Is this globe made of a special metal composition that makes it cooler when exposed to heat?. The custodian looked thoroughly amused and said, Touch it now. They did and found that the side facing the sun was warm. They asked him, Tell us. How does this periodic heat transfer work?. The man couldnt take it any longer and said, This is a bronze globe sir. The side exposed to the sun heats up. All I do is turn the warm side away from the sun every hour to cool it. So saying, the custodian turned the globe and walked away. Remember, the smartest minds miss out the smallest details. Do not complicate and do not ignore the small things. - Sathya Sai Seetharaman
