Happens only in India: The arch rival of Amma, DMK filed a case - TopicsExpress

Happens only in India: The arch rival of Amma, DMK filed a case on her accusing of illegal acquisition of assets over 18 years ago and she finishes 2 tenures as a chief minister of Tamil Nadu with the current tenure running and due to be finished in 2 years (while having no clean chit!). When she is convicted by the Judicial court, doesnt this imply that over two tenures of Chief ministry of a state was handled by a criminal? I am not pointing at the delay that was caused to give a verdict, but how can a person contest in an election and hold the highest position of a state when there is no clean chit from the concerned courts? Let us not forget that she was even eyeing on the Prime Minister’s role during the recent Loksabha elections betting on the third front. If she had formed the government at the centre (or even played a vital role by offering the support to form the government, let’s say), wouldnt that have lead in a strong political insurgence? UFF! This is one advantage of being a self-sufficient single majority party ruling independently and not worry about such regional imbalances where there Power (and to a great extent money) supersedes law and order. Finally all the best to Tamil Nadu to find a stronger successor of Amma. Hope the new leader will be capable enough to shield the imbalance that might be caused later. :)
