Happy 4th of July!! Summer is here!! Have a safe and fun holiday and mark your calendars for some great summer music fests here in Hamden! Several alumni of Hamden High School’s Mainstage Ensemble will present a benefit concert of Jason Robert Brown’s Songs for a New World. This beautiful song-cycle gives audiences a glimpse at an array of characters on the verge of a new beginning. The piece is a musical triumph by one of Broadway’s most talented and innovative composers. Returning to the Hamden stage are Linedy Genao, Stephen Humes, Kelly Reilly and Leroy Walton, former leaders on the Hamden High School Mainstage. Now working professionals in the theatre industry, these students are returning to Hamden for a two-night special engagement. The show is free admission, with donations being accepted to benefit The Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The performance is being dedicated to the memories of Virginia “Ginny” Bartholomew and Euclides Genao, two loved ones that were lost to cancer this past year. Performances are Thursday, July 18, and Saturday July 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hamden High School Auditorium, 2040 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, CT.
