Happy 50th Birthday to my light in the darkness. 50 years ago today, the most enigmatic and inspiring tv character made his debut on the small screen for the first time, portrayed by the inimitable William Hartnell. Some 43 years later, Christopher Ecclestons portrayal of the same character debuted on Sci-fi in the US and gave hope to a university student who couldnt find any for herself. Heres to 50 more years of a character who can make people better in a way no other physician can.
