Happy All Hallows EVE! Tomorrow (Nov. 1) is All Saints Day -- a Holy Day of Obligation. Why exactly do we Catholics pray to the Saints? Like most all Christians, we believe in life after death and while those who are now in heaven and lived a virtuous life in the faith of Christ, remain in communion with us. We pray for their intercession with our Lord on our behalf. On Saturday (Nov. 2), is All Souls Day. All three days are a kind of Triduum of intense remembrance and prayer about the universal call to holiness, how all have been redeemed by Christ (the good and the bad), and that Christian hospitality is shown to all. Mass will be celebrated at parishes throughout the diocese. Bishop Felipe Estevez will celebrate on All Souls’ Day at San Lorenzo Catholic Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 2, 10 a.m. On Saturday, Nov. 9, All Souls Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Korona, with Father Slawomir Podsiedlik, OCD, as the celebrant. May these days be ones of blessing, filled with Gods grace for all!
