Happy Birthday Ray. What an incredible musician! His accomplishments and his influence are impossible to even measure. When I am unfortunate enough to deal with an ignorant racist making a fool of themselves, but gaining momentum... I use Ray Charles to remind them that African Americans have made contributions beyond your compare. Not only did he write some of the best soul music ever, he played the piano like no one else, and did it without benefit of vision. Its a good verbal slap in the face if you ever need one. He is indeed an American Icon. We would all do well to listen to more Ray Charles. He can lift your spirit or break a bad mood better than medicine. In fact, in a way he is medicine, The very best kind. I love Ray.
