He often talked about the many friends he had made in the Legbracers Association and how much the support of his fellow Legbracers had helped him through the most difficult times in his life, she said. Memorial cards with Walters picture are available free of charge from the offices of The Manitoba Native Legbracers Association. The Manitoba Native Legbracers Association is saddened to announce the death of Legbracer Walter Owen Pronteau on Thursday 6th September, 2007 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 42 years. Walter was born on 26th October, 1964 at The Pas, Manitoba. He moved to Thicket Portage, Manitoba at a young age and lived there until he had to return to The Pas for medical reasons. At that time Andy and Gertrude Lundquist were his foster parents. Walter appreciated all that they did for him during the years he lived with them. A few years later he moved to Winniupeg where he was able to receive the help he required for his medical condition. Walter was an outgoing and happy person who enjoyed life through all his pain and hardships. He enjoyed being with his family and friends and particularly the many friends he made through the Manitoba Native Legbracers Association. He was particularly close to our Assistant Executive Director, Mark W. Freeman, who supported Walter through his difficult days. Walter will be missed by all those who knew him. He is survived by his sisters, Grace, Elizabeth, Joanne, Sandra; brothers, Howard, Carlos (who is also a member of the Native Legbracers Association) in-laws, Joe Moore, Leonard Crait, Arnold Bignell, Douglas Dick; other relatives, Phylls and Rick McPherson and family; Irvin Pronteau and Thelma and family, Norman and Beatrice Dick and family, Helen Linklater and family, nephews and nieces, Cyril Pronteau and family, Derek Pronteau and family, Nadine Jackson, Audry Dick, Lillian Bruyere, Wayne Dick and family, Samantha Duncan and Frederick, Charles, Duncan and son Brandon as well as numerous other relatives. Walter was predeceased by his father, Charles Pronteau; mother Delilah Pronteau; brothers; Alphonse, Joe and Samuel Pronteau; sisters; Marie Moore, Barbara Pronteau; uncles and aunts, Lawrence and Nora Pronteau, Philip and Clara Guiboche, Eli Linklater, Mary Linklater, Samuel Linklater, William Pronteau and Maria Nobess. Wake Service was held on Sunday 9th September, 2007 with the Funeral Service on Monday 10th September, 2007 in the Riverside Bible Church, Umpherville, The Pas, Manitoba. Interment took place in the Lakeside Cemetery in The Pas. Requiescat in pace Walter, we will always remember you.
