Happy Birthday to our sweet little princess! About this time 4 - TopicsExpress

Happy Birthday to our sweet little princess! About this time 4 years ago we would have been cozily and happily enjoying each others company after an amazing adventure! As I was beginning to make dinner for a houseful, I noticed things were different. I knew wed meet you soon. (Just didnt know how soon) In short order Oma (Lynda Osborn) arrived (not having any idea youd arrive early that next morning), Papa came home from work and Abuelita and your Tias came too! Things progressively got more interesting between about 5 and 9 at night. Then I said I wanted to for for a walk with Papa. Contractions were really noticeable. Got home and everyone began to leave. (Except Abuelita and Oma). I was able to get some one on one time with Edward (rocking and cuddling before bed - he was 21 months old) and called my doula. (Sharon Tilotta Aaron) I think I sounded pretty calm at that time still. :) Soon after that we suggested that everyone go to bed. In that side-lying position things got even more interesting. Contractions were more difficult and coming closer together. Didnt think to time them since labor with Edward took so long!! About a couple of hours in, my water broke. Talked to my amazing doula again who couldnt be there (son was at hospital) but she helped me by phone! She suggested trying to rest a bit. (11 p.m.) Went back to bed contracting and relaxing, contracting and then relaxing (sleeping). Told Jesus Eduardo Rodriguez around 1 that I didnt want to go to the hospital too soon like I did with Edward but really felt I should go. He asked if I wanted to take a shower. I said yes. Got up to go shower but stopped in my tracks. Could.not.move through that contraction. No shower. Wake everyone and go. No time. So we piled in Omas car and Jesus made the drive in record time. (Missed a few- ok, several) traffic lights to do it. Meanwhile I am trying not to have Abis birth in the car. Had to blow like I was blowing out a candle. And the moms prayed. We made it. (In all the chaos we did not notify the midwife ahead) We get there and are going through the long hallway in a rickety wheelchair. Gisela Quintero was trying to open the door to get me through and apparently I was a little excited. I said: PUSH the Button! We finally made it through, they checked and determined I was 10 cm. they wanted me to change clothes, I declined. I was already dressed appropriately. I got in bed and they told me to wait for the midwife. WAIT. Make the baby wait?!? Jesus remembered what the Sharon (doula) said. He started asking the nurses if the had ever had babies and if they thought they could wait for a baby. Dont push they said. Ha! My body couldnt cooperate. I waited as best I could. Our midwife arrived and prepped quickly. Abigail Leigh Rodriguez arrived in 3 pushes. It was so exciting, fairly quick and so worth the adventure! Abigail means fathers joy. This sweet, sassy, helpful, smart, adventurous ballerina princess has brought so much joy to us!! Abi: God has great big and surprising plans for you. Plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Mommyphrased- Jer 29:11) So glad you know Him from this tender age and are learning to walk with Him! We love you little lady. (And thanks for waking me up at 2:06 a.m. in honor of your birthday). Love, mama and Papa.
