Happy Birthday to the matriarch of charity, Mrs Mariel Tolentino. She is more than "DSWD"in her own way. She has touched our lives in so many ways by at least the following:( as I can randomly remember. No exact words can describe her as a person because her genuine kindness is done as fast as possible and incognito.) 1. She was introduced to me by no other than the great late Secretary Jesse Robredo. 2. She made possible the donation of 250 LBC balikbayan boxes last Dec 2009 for 36,000 Mayon Volcano eruption victims, which greatly helped the yellow volunteers in reaching out prior to the 2010 Presidential election national campaign. 3. Every time, there is a calamity or any news about an incident about someone needing help, she would call and offer help and she will always be very compassionate up to the point of not being able to sleep thinking about it, hence would send help. 4. She helped donate expensive Havaiianas slippers for poor children. 5. She would always come(and/or send samples to make) if she sees the opportunity to help Bicolano families) do livelihood projects like abaca products weaving. 6. Her gandchildren and her whole family donated the most number of yellow boats for the "swim-to-school" kids families in Mababoy island, Masbate. 7. She donated for the inter-island submersible hose as a way to supply water in Mababoy island. 8. She donated school supplies and needs of school children plus furnitures for the makeshift school in Mababoy island. 9. She is an avid yellow volunteer,AGAPP donor and supporter. and strong anti-poverty advocate. 10. She is the loving wife of our amiable President of Pipol Power Institue, Garth Noel Tolentino 11. She used to work for President Cory Aquino, ....and speaks humbly, gently with a heart very much like Tita Cory. 12. She donated to the flag girl in Malinao as soon as she heard about her. Yes, just some of the few reasons why we love her. We wish her the best on her birthday. May God shower her with good health, long life and more blessings as she pass on the torch of kindness to others.
