Happy Birthday today (Aug. 22) to Nikki Corvette, who first came to prominence as the lead singer (1977-81) Detroit pop-punk band, Nikki & The Corvettes; they released their self-titled album on Bomp Records in 1980, reviewed as power pop perfection splitting the difference between The Ronettes & The Ramones; Nikki returned to action in 2003 with new combo Nikki & The Stingrays, releasing the album Back to Detroit; she cut a new single Love Me/Whats on My Mind, in 2003 & released an album of classic cover tunes, Wild Record Party, in 2005; in 2009, she formed the band Gorevette with Amy Gore of The Gore Gore Girls; Nikki penned a tribute to departed musical heroes, Rock n Roll Heaven, which was published in 1997…(this & more featured today at Roch Parisiens Rocon Communications music chat page...)
