Happy Friday Pay it Forward Folks!!!! Well it is the last Friday and JanYOUary 2014. I hope you had an amazing day and you Conducted in a Random Act of Kindness. I DID!!!! My Pay It Forward goal for this month I did not achieve so I am going to reset it for next month. I want to see how long $20.00 will last in Pay it Forward Coffees. This happened on Monday: I was in Vernon and witnessed a car accident where an elderly gentlemen driving with his wife that hit 2 parked vehicles. I was the first person to approach the vehicle. I was very concerned for their well being and the wife was crying and hyper ventilating. I stayed with them both the entire time. I talked to them, calmed them and made sure they stayed in the vehicle until the police and ambulance arrived I noticed hey were in a courtesy car and I called the company that owned the car to come and get the vehicle and save the elderly couple the tow bill. When the police and paramedics said they were okay and could leave the police officer was going to call them a cab to get them home. I said I would take them home if that was okay. They had groceries that we put in my vehicle and the wife was in a wheelchair that fit in the back of my SUV. On the drive home which was 20 minutes away I learned that John (the elderly gentlemans name) had lived in Vernon since 1967 and fought in the World War. FASCINATING MAN! I thought to myself what an honor for me to help him. I enjoyed the conversation on the drive to their house so much that I did not want it to end. I helped Helen (wife) into the house and then carried their groceries in. I made sure they were both inside together before I left. I called the courtesy car company back and let them know that the couple was home safe and if she could call them and check on them as I did not have their #. I was worried about them. The lady knew the couple quite well and said she would call them and would contact family to go and check on them. She also gave me the elderly couples # and I called them 2 hours later to see how they were. I received a call yesterday from the lady of the business she said John was just in and picked up his car and now has to turn in his drivers licence. John is 93. She then asked for my home address which I was reluctant to give and stated I wanted NOTHING in return for doing the RIGHT THING. She said John wants it so I respected the ask of John. Thought of the Day.....Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what happened. Be Kind
