Happy Independance Day (Words from my heart) Like a soldier’s helmet dented by bullets in a battlefield Your history was embossed with numerous struggles on the wheel of time But your resolve stood the test of time Your beauty was scarred with the barbarity of man Slavery rampaged your own self Deep within yourself you cried with tears of blood But your dress stayed white with innocence Your beauty crossed the oceans Your outline is unparalleled and depicts a perfect symmetry A strange synergy between elements that makes you so enchanting Lightened with hope your mind was without fear Blue remained the oceans on which you sailed The seas were rough but clear were your vision and you never lost way Finally you reached for the heaven of freedom With no bloodshed you achieved wisdom You graduated as a free land A symbol of pride A salute to those who died for this fight With honour you are presented to the world That small dot on the world map Waving high to show “Yes we Can” Gifted with a new dress and status, your flag flew high in the sky With this seal of unity in God we trust O Motherland, Land of the free With peace and love we’ll carry on After 46 years of independence My country counts on me to build and I’ll stay forever near…O Motherland
