Happy Independence Malaysia. Since it is Independence I felt that perhaps it would be worth while to share something with fellow Malaysians, that is when I came upon this video and I realized that the profound meaning in this video is so surreal. I urge you all to watch it. It is not that often that I come back to Malaysia now. However, I realized how different things are now compared to then. Life then were simple, unsophisticated and to a very large extent unspoiled. Then , we were profoundly known for our compassion and camaraderie. Today in our crave for Development we have literally sold our soul. Different fraction, different ideology, different class and almost different people. The notion of The people of one nation is literally slipping from our grasp. Most of us you are just caught in endless rat-race racing for time and money continuously. Either ignoring the reality or failing to accept it. This is not felt more by any other than those in the bottom of the chain, I remember not so long ago during my recent trip to Johor, we realized that how difficult it is to manage a simple bus trip from Johor to KL, they were endless of rude services and scams all through this simple transaction. Although,we could have avoided such harassment by cruising on the superbike but I felt that for a change lets take the bus. Let me tell you it was annoying and endless of disappointments. For a person like me there is choice and most likely the next time I will either travel on the superbike or take a flight since money is no real objection. However, what choices do those in the bottom of the chain have? Life would be simpler if we respect the others and care for the well being of others. Its common sense that should prevail and nothing more. Being kind and understanding and helping those in need must be common traits and common sense. I have tireless traveled across 52 countries now and perhaps worked and interact with 5 dozen cultures. So in the essence, I am qualified enough to understand what is happening in Malaysia. Today it is becoming more and more of dog eat dog for those in the bottom and as most of us in the middle tier , its a never ending rat race or in other word one bill after another, one appointment after the other or one traffic jam after the other. For those who are retired you realize that you dont have much of a saving to take you through your golden years. So what does this mean ?? Well, you might say its the same every where?. To which I would answer Have you lived there. Media perspective is not your perspective, your perspective could only be from your own experience. I feel there need to a be a greater sense of urgency to transform the nation, not economically but culturally, where people need to go back to their roots and distinguish of what is fair, just and right. We need a cultural revolution, where the true sense of belonging, security and serenity returns, where, we truly feel blessed.
