Happy Kwanzaa! More about Umoja, the first principle, from an incredible friend, organizer, and mother, Keisha Mathew: Day 1 of 7: Umoja (Unity): To strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race. Todays principle is a special one because all around the world people are fighting for justice in a unified manner. In my own circle (new & established), umoja has been practiced. Weve come together to build our children up to be the next leaders in their developing circles. I am ever grateful to those that have helped my immediate family, community and nationality become stronger in the name of umoja!
