Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! Let us celebrate this day of Civil Rights, American Citizenship, and the Equality of all Americans regardless of race, skin color, and ethnic background. We must remember we are all in this together as Americans. One American nation, one American people! United we stand, divided we fall! This is still important today, as the powers that be seek by any means to divide us Americans against each other. Whether its the mainstream media fueling racism to provoke racial war and tensions, or the Republican and Democrat parties promoting and thriving off such hatred they help stir, we must never forget we stand or fall together as Americans in one national community and family! In these recent times, we must not give in to the racial hatred promoted by the news media and both parties! For if we do, then we will never achieve Dr. King’s dream where “little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.” If we give in, we will never fulfill the dream of national unity as Americans! We cannot go back to 1963! Nor should we ever! No matter how much the news media may want to! No matter how much the politicians may want to! And, for that matter, no matter how much the predominant baby boomer generation wants to, just so they can relive their “glory days” that they often brag about! 1963 is over and we need to work towards building a better future. Learn from the past, do not become enslaved by it! Do not give in to those who use the racism of the past to fuel and prolong hatred of each other in the present!
