Happy Monday!! This week is Healthy Bones Week. Did you know 1.2 million Australians suffer with osteoporosis! Bones need 3-4 serves of calcium per day, weight bearing activity and sunlight exposure everyday. Green leafy veggies, nuts, seeds, cereals and legumes do contain calcium but dairy sources contain the highest amounts of readily absorbable calcium. Cheese also contains high-quality protein, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus to further support bone strength and structure. Those that are lactose intolerant can still consume cheddar, colby, Swiss and mozzarella as the lactose is removed in the cheese making process- everything in moderation though!! :)
