Happy New Year Rico! Rico is my first bird. He will be 11 years old in May. As many of you already know we almost lost him this past August in what should have been a fatal accident. If I thought our relationship was strong then, it is tenfold now. Rico was my introduction to birds and how absolutely amazing I find them to be. I learned all of this through him. The intelligence level is what got me hooked as you can see in this video. This video is only our third training session with this behavior and each training session has lasted about three minutes. Many birds, especially the parrot, I find to be very quick in performing through observation, intellectual, and awesome problem solvers. I choose to live my life surrounded by them and deeply involved in their world because I find them so intelligent, funny, interactive, in one of the most complex animals I have trained. I am also fascinated by their unique anatomy and evolution. Rico was my introduction to all of this. He and I have been given a second chance of his life. It is my goal to make the most of this second opportunity. Thank you to all of you that helped he and I through this. Heres to seeing where he will take us in 2015. Happy New Year Everyone!
