Happy New Year to all, I hope you have enjoyed the holiday thus far...the weathers been pretty good, with typically cold and breezy conditions. Not much change into Saturday. Now there will be some lake effect snow for those of you up in N. Herkimer and N. Hamilton counties, 6+ inches with scattered snow showers into the Mohawk valley and western Catskills after midnight. In fact all of us could see a passing flurry or snow shower into the day Fri. as a cold front goes by during the morning. 30-35 Friday, then closer to 30 on Sat with morning sun giving way to clouds during the PM. Snow should break out Sat. evening with a transition to sleet, then freezing rain, then to rain, all likely before daybreak on Sunday. Not easy to time how long any of the wintry precip. types will last at any one spot at this point, but the potential remains for a couple of inches of snow before the mix. Sundays temps briefly pop into the 40s so well be dealing with rain tapering to showers. Very cold air to follow this system into next week. Our next news begins at 5pm on CBS6
