Perhaps it is time we make some changes in Washington and get the government operating the way it was intended. Currently it seems the longer that our elected officials are in office the more they forget that government is “For the people”, and not a place where you only endorse bills put forth by your party or some splinter group like the Tea Party Patriots thinks it should be ran. If the parties representing us in Washington were actually two brothers who fought over anything just to be fighting, I am certain that the father of those two individuals would march both of them to the barn and put the board of education to their seat of knowledge. Perhaps it is time we do something that leaves every last one of our current politician’s without a job after one term in office. I feel safe in saying that the biggest problem in Washington right now is career politicians with their own agenda and devoting the majority of their time spent passing legislation that is for the betterment of their largest campaign contributors. After one term in office most of them forget who elected them as well as the promises they made to us prior to their election. If I sound angry it’s is because I am, I am a 100% service connected disabled Veteran who will not be paid if the government shuts down nor will I get a social security check for the same reason. Then to add salt to the wound I learned yesterday we will receive a measly 1-1/2% increase which will not even cover the cost of living increase. The average salary for a member of Congress is about $174,000.00 a year. Yes they are going to get their pay check if the government shuts down. So let’s level the playing field a bit and make sure that all representatives and congress men only have a Washington DC address for one term and while we’re at it let’s take away all the privileges they think they are entitled to when they leave office. Then perhaps when house seat or congressional seat no longer provides a lifelong perks, a real person might run for office just to make the country better. In closing let me give you a prime example of how out of touch the Washington people are. I sent Rep. Al Franken an email and told him how sick I was of the way Washington is being ran and yes I did get a reply from him, he ask for me to send him a contribution so he could go on doing nothing at all.
