Happy Samhain from the Indigo Weekly Top 40 as we welcome Billy Squier to the countdown. In The Dark is an appropriate song for Halloween. The darkness referred to in this song is the darkness of secrets. It is about a lover who keeps their relationship secret. It is not because one is ashamed to be with the other for that is not love. It is kept secret because society is more in the dark than they are about what love means. They fear a life of loneliness from the rest of society if their relationship is discovered. However, when take the red pill and go down the rabbit hole, so to speak, they have a hard time suppressing those things within themselves that they try to keep hidden from others, like their loneliness and lust. The altered state is causing them to lose a little control and become less inhibited. Love is the only truth, the rest is just illusion. Billy Squier is almost pleading that you listen to spirit and trust in spirit. You never listen to the voices inside, they fill your ears as you run to a place to hide. Dont hide, let it out.
