Happy Sunday Everyone! On the feast day (Oct.4) of St. Francis of Assisi we visited the Aeta kids of St. Francis Learning Center in Mangan-Vaca, Subic, Zambales. We had communion with these little saints as we partook in a simple meal of fried chicken and rice which they enjoyed a lot. We saw their eyes glowed with excitement because it reminded them of their once in a blue moon trip to Jollibee. The meal was sponsored by a friend of the community while our group sponsored the film showing of The 13th Day: The Story of Fatima. Neither these kids know the story of Fatima nor heard of Portugal in Europe. It was a day fulfilling not because of what we brought to the community but because of the warm welcome and genuine appreciation we felt from these kids. They are part of the stay-in school program by the sisters of Saint Francis of the Immaculate Conception ( SFIC). They live in one large community together with some teachers and staff. In the end we bring home the spirit of Hapag ng Pag-asa and the warmth embrace of the real communion of the poor. Glory be to God. Hear the prayers of those kids. St. Francis pray for us. Our Lady of Fatima pray for us. Amen.
