Happy Sunday morning friends. As many of you know, I often refer to myself as a Church Lady. I love what I do for a job, and I also believe that churches continue to play a role in most communities. I have also been referred to as the mean church lady, because I am the one that has to make sure the bills get paid. Yes, churches have expenses just like any other business. The electric and gas companies do not give us a discount, we pay sales tax, and we have administrative costs. And, contrary to popular belief, most churches are not sitting on huge endowments or have wealthy benefactors to rely on. Every week, we are asked to provide space, or services, either free of charge, or for a very low fee. Baptisms, weddings, memorials,social justice events, etc. I spend a lot of time on the phone, or corresponding through email, explaining the costs associated with these events, and it does not make me very popular. However, it is the reality. Toilet paper for a hundred person event can really add up! Have a great day!!!!!
