Happy Sunday people If you havent already seen my blog post from yesterday, a link is on my timeline. Its about Pathological Demand Avoidance. PDA is a condition on the Autism spectrum, yet families and individuals who live with it face a constant battle to get authorities to even accept that the condition exists, let alone to provide a diagnosis and offer support. The Autism Community has a powerful voice, and we use that voice everyday to demand that the world around us steps up and takes time to read, learn and understand about Autism. We vilify those who dont. We would be hypocritical in the extreme to fail to take our own advice, and to not even spend a small amount of time trying to understand PDA. We are a strong, passionate community. At our worst we allow differences in opinion to divide us. At our best we pull together despite our differences and we have the power to make the world listen. Lets bring our PDA cousins in from the cold, listen to what they have to say, and help them to build a pedestal to speak from. My guide and inspiration for my post on PDA came from the testimonies of Lucy at Bean Soup, and her brilliant, honest and emotional blog which charts the daily journey of her family with PDA in their lives.
