Happy Veterans Day! My Dad used to tell me stories of the war. He served in the USAF as a radio repairman for the big planes. Sometimes he would tell me about a man named Sgt. Carter. When Mom was pregnant with me, my Dad had orders to fly to Southeast Asia during the time I was supposed to be born. Instead his roommate (Sgt. Carter) had to go for him because he was needed to deliver me. So, he went on the same flight that my Dad was supposed to go on. That flight was shot down over Laos and there were no survivors. As a Father, I can understand the gratefulness and sorrow that my Dad felt for Sgt. Carter. He made the ultimate sacrifice so that I could enjoy the wonderful years with my father, a wonderful man and a proud vet. Thank you to our fallen soldiers and the soldiers who have served. Your service has made a wonderful difference for the lives of Americans in many ways!
