Happy Veterans Day everyone, being able to visit this wall in person was a wonderful thing to experience. These brave individuals paid the ultimate sacrifice to make this world a better place. I felt honored to touch this wall, knowing that I had written the same check that they had written also, but was never cashed serving within the AOR on four different occasions (Desert Storm 1993, Enduring Freedom 2010,2011,& 2012). I guess you can say, I was one of the lucky ones that returned safely home. All the times I spent away in these isolated places made me the person I am today good or bad, I accept that. No one knows exactly what I have experienced on a physical and mental level while deployed to each location. Trust me, when I say this. I still have dreams about some of the things that had happened over there because I experienced them myself. I will not go into detail but whenever I hear a veteran telling a story I listen because deep down I can relate to it in some type of way. So, on this great day in America that many of us are enjoying freedom, bbqs, and etc,... Pause, for a moment to thank the ones that cashed the check that they wrote so we could be here enjoying today and thank the ones that are still here today to tell their stories.
