Happy X-mas to all. Today’s newspapers are filled with picturesque view of Santa, particularly it amazes the childrens the most. In corporates also it has become a fashionable to dress someone as a Santa and take him for a picturesque ride from floor to floor, all enjoy him shaking hands and taking selfie, little aware that these Santa are none other than our office boys who we never shake hands. But that is what we call as the importance of appearance. Another headline which is taking round is the declaration of highest civilian awards to unanimous choice of masses Vajpayee jee and Pdt. Malviya jee, the two stalwarts who so far have been denied their righteous recognition because they belonged to ideological right wings. It shows the approach and the extent our preceding governments had inherited from so-called secular ideas. I remember the last recipient of this award was Sachin Tendulkar but the way it was declared was a shameful procedure. First one to pronounce this decision was the Rahul baba who wanted to capitalize on the popularity wave of little master and within hours MMS government followed his tune. Even rule books were amended including sportspersons category for this award and Sachin was named surpassing all greats in the likes of Dyanchand and Kapil Dev. Although, I myself is the big fan of Sachin but it pains me to find political overtone in the naming of recipients of this award. There are many more controversies over the way this award have been declared and the political flavour it carries. One among them is excluding the name of Netaji Subhas Chander Bose and Dr B. R . Ambedkar till very late. Another controversy is the selfish way in which Nehrujee and Indirajee bestowed this award on themselves. Later, Mr Rajiv also joined this club as another recipient. So it is not hard to presume that once in power, our Rahul Baba will also follow the legacy of their Bharat Ratna family. Somewhere down the line many more Gandhis and Nehrus are about to join this club. And not be surprised at all if it is from one of Vadras.
