Happy birthday to #StarTrek, which turns 47 today. Pretty impressive for a show that was cancelled after three seasons, due to low ratings, having started in 1966. Since then, the franchise has had 6 feature films with The Original Series cast, four with The Next Generation cast, an animated cartoon series, two feature film reboots, with a third in the works, a second television series more than two decades later that lasted 7 seasons and 178 episodes, longer than any other show in the franchise history, a third series centred on a space station (Star Trek Deep Space 9, #DS9), which ran seven seasons for 176 episodes, a FOURTH series, (Star Trek Voyager, ST:VOY) the first to feature a female captain (Captain Kathryn Janeway, portrayed by Kate Mulgrew), which also lasted 7 seasons for 172 episodes, a FIFTH series, a "prequel" to the original series, (Star Trek Enterprise) and countless parodies, novels, and other tie-ins.
