Happy birthday to my beautiful and amazing mama...her incredible - TopicsExpress

Happy birthday to my beautiful and amazing mama...her incredible strength, deep spirituality and love for beauty and art made her my greatest role model. Her resiliency in the face of multiple relocations due to war, with five children, taught me the power of hope. Her incredibly open minded nature, and ability to follow her own convictions even when against societies expectations, made her my hero. There was no obstacle or challenge she could not overcome...and all the while built a home life for her family that was always filled with laughter and love. She embodied freedom and strength no matter what challenge life presented to her. She taught me to follow my dreams from day one ( never asked me to be a lawyer, a doctor or an engineer)...always telling me to do whatever made me happy, but to do it fully. She treated each one of my friends as if they were her own. She took in friends whose own families shunned them because they were gay, different or even pregnant at a younger age. Even when we were so incredibly poor, she said if Allah gives us one bite to eat, we can share it with others who need to eat too. She sees the best in everyone, incredibly generous with her compliments. She loves different original and unique. She asks so little of others (except for kindness and to not wake her up early), but the first to offer her help. She has helped me so many times with costumes, input, stories and encouragement for my projects. She made my beautiful wedding dress. She is passionate, an incredible dancer, the most wonderful cook and an extraordinary artist and couture clothing designer. Whatever she touches turns into art. And when she makes mistakes, she apologizes and works hard to fix it. She is a powerhouse of strength for all around her... And the most intuitive person I have ever met. Thoughtful. Gracious. Love embodied. And when I was in the thick of it with my cancer, she spoke to me more than once every day, shinning light, love and positive strength, as she is now six years in remission from her own breast cancer. I love you mamma. We all love you, everyone that has ever met you. May Allah protect you and give you easier days than the very difficult challenges you have faced in life. Thank you for my life, and dedicating yourself to my happiness and well being. If I continue to make you proud, that is more than enough for me. Happy birthday! Maha Cantello
