Happy to announce that we have a location (easily accessible from I-5 and just a few miles north of 520) and some fun planned for your and your family! WA FEAST Food-free Halloween, Oct. 26, 1-3 PM Greenwood Senior Center - 525 N. 85th St. Seattle WA 98103. For directions: phinneycenter.org/gsc/contact.html 1-3 PM Halloween Party - Games, crafts, prizes, meet new friends. Costumes encouraged! Suggested donation: $15 per family to help defray rental cost - all welcome! Activities will likely include: -Felt craft table -Mask coloring table -Fishing pond with prizes -Games -Party dances and costume parade to the music of Hot Cider String Band Special Requests: -All will be asked to sign a WA FEAST Event waiver - we do all we can to create a low-risk environment but cannot guarantee a risk-free environment - please supervise your child at all times at the event and be prepared to manage a reaction. -Do not bring food to the event -Do have lunch or a snack before the event and wipe/wash hands and face before you come to the part - there are bathrooms available on site; wipes will be available. Our commitment: -No food will be served and we will do all we can to avoid latex prizes and equipment; we will likely offer bottled water -Volunteers will visually inspect the room and cover, sweep up, mop or wipe down any potential sources of allergens -Wipes will be available -The kitchen and dining area will be off limits for the duration of the event -Have fun! NOTE on getting to the Senior Center: The driveway on the East side of the building is an EXIT ONLY; if you are coming from the freeway, pass the first driveway and turn in at the second. Also, if you are going West on N. 85th St. you have to turn across traffic to get into the driveway. One option is to turn left the block before you get tot the center and go around the block so you can approach from the West. There is parking all the way around the building -the entrance is on the NW corner of the building - you pass it on your left when you turn into the parking lot. OTHER STUFF This event will appeal mostly to younger kids - thinking 10 or 12 and under. All ages welcome. VOLUNTEERS Please let us know if you can come at 12:00 to help clean, decorate, set up etc or stay for 30 minutes afterwards to help clean-up. Also, would love some older kids to volunteer to help at the activity tables/stations. This is a great way for middle or high school kids to earn some community service hours. The good news it that the space will have a good cleaning the morning of the event and while there is a kitchen/dining area next to the room well be using, we can easily block off access. Of course, it is every families responsibility to manage the whereabouts of your child at all times -there are other parts of the building that can be accessed so we will all need to make sure kids stay in the activity area and are escorted to and from the bathrooms. If you have any questions or concerns contact [email protected]. And if you are planning to go out collecting candy, the Greenwood/Phinney businesses are having Hunger Goblins (food bank donations encouraged) trick or treat event on the same date from 12-3 PM. If you do indulge, please do not bring it with you to the event and read those labels - stay safe! Hunger Goblin event info: phinneycenter.org/hungergoblin/index.html
