Hardly have my tears dried up over the passage of dear old Dora - TopicsExpress

Hardly have my tears dried up over the passage of dear old Dora Akunyili than I recoil in disbelieving horror to discover - quite by chance - that my old intimate and literary idol, Obi Egbuna, best-selling author of the fiction classic WIND VERSUS POLYGAMY and a host of other memorable novels and protest writings against racism - and surely one of the best brains in Nigerias literary firmament - passed away on January 20th, 2014, aged 78. I am lost for words, unable to fathom how I could have missed the elaborate memorials for him in the US. We spent uncountable moments together in London in the early 70s; he was an outstanding intellectual, politician, could defeat almost anybody in an English argument, an inspiration to so many black people in London in those days (he founded the Black Panther Movement in Britain), and remained a fiery advocate of black African unity. To his dear son Obi Egbuna Jnr (my FB friend) and his Egyptian wife, I express my most solemn condolences. Elaborate pages of memorials have been set up by his son on Google. RIP great comrade.
