Harmonious Asia International Exhibition of Works by Artists for Peace Opened in Shanghai Harmonious Asia International Exhibition of Works by Artists for Peace co-held by Beijing Peace Tour Cultural Exchange Center and China International Cultural Association kicked off grandly at China Art Palace on May 19th. Around 200 people such as leaders and artists of “CICA” member states, observer states, dialogue partner states and journalists attended the opening ceremony, including Meng Jianzhu, a member of Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Committee of Political and Legislative Affairs, Emomali Rakhmon, President of Tajikistan, Guo Shengkun, State Councilor and Minister of Public Security, and Akkoshkarov, Deputy Secretary of Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Meng Jianzhu and President Rakhmon delivered their speech at the ceremony. At the opening ceremony, Meng Jianzhu presented the Prize of Friends of International Peace Artists to President Rakhmon to recognize his continuous contributions to international peace and arts exchange activities. Subsequently, Meng Jianzhu, President Rakhmon, Guo Shengkun, and Deputy Secretary Akkoshkarov presented Gold Medal-Gold Brush Award of International Award for Peace and Art to artists who won, and they also presented to winning units and individuals International Cultural Exchange Contribution Award. At the ceremony, the silver prize and bronze prize, as well as International Peace Artist Award were also issued to artists. Dong Junxin, Vice Chairman of China International Cultural Association, made a speech at the opening ceremony on behalf of the sponsors. He thought that the exhibition had provided an opportunity for artists at home and abroad for mutual understanding and mutual reference and brought in new perspective for artistic creation in China. He hoped all artists could further enhance exchange, make common progress and contribute to friendship of all Asian countries. Beijing Peace Tour Cultural Exchange Center is a non-governmental organization dedicated to international cultural exchange activities. For more than a decade, it has successfully held many international cultural exchange activities worldwide by means of international arts and paintings. On this exhibition, the 149 works are from 80 artists of “CICA” member states, observer states, dialogue partner states, and the other 27 countries with special invitation. The works are themed on “harmonious Asia”, have various forms, take on diversified styles and show significant implications, interpreting vividly the humanistic thought of people around the world, which inherits the love for peace and conveying a variety of profound harmony concepts. The exhibition was held during “CICA” Summit, created the harmonious and peaceful atmosphere of “CICA” Summit, received good response from all walks of life and was highly praised by media and the public.
