Harold - Misused/Abused Words - Natchitoches homicide suspect found in Florida Sheriff says Alan Brumfield was hiding in the Everglades Oct. 22, 2013 | 0 Comments A A Written by Vickie Welborn Filed Under News Local/State News NATCHITOCHES — A Natchitoches Parish man wanted in connection with the Oct. 13 home invasion and homicide of a Creston man has been captured in south Florida, Sheriff Victor Jones Jr. said Tuseday in a news release. Alan Virgil Brumfield, 48, of the 7000 block of state Highway 6 in Natchitoches, was found about 9 a.m. in the Everglades near Naples, Fla. He is a suspect in the shooting death of Ted Charles Brou, 37. Natchitoches Parish sheriff’s detectives got a break in the case when Collier County, Fla., sheriff’s deputies found an abandoned Nissan Sentra in Naples. The car matched the description of the one Brumfield was last seen in. Collier County deputies received help from Florida Fish and Wildlife agents in issuing broadcasts of a murder suspect being in the area. Tips on Tuesday morning led to Brumfield’s capture. “Reportedly, Brumfield was wet during his capture, while hiding in the Everglades,” Jones said in the release. Brumfield was booked into the Collier County Detention Center on arrest warrants issued by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office charging him with first-degree murder, home invasion and second-degree kidnapping. Authorities are waiting to learn if Brumfield will sign extradition papers for his return to Natchitoches Parish. Natchitoches deputies found Brou dead in a home in the 200 block of Willie Walker Road. He died of an apparent gunshot wound. No additional information about what led to the shooting or any connection between Brou and Brumfield has been released. Jones expressed pride in the “hard work” performed by detectives in this case. “We also extend our thanks to the citizens of Naples, Fla., for their tips and to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office in the capture of this dangerous suspect. “We would also like to thank the news media, Louisiana State Police Fusion Center, U.S. Marshal Fugitive Apprehension Task Force, ROCIC Intelligence Center, Florida Highway Patrol and Miami-Dade Police for their assistance in the case.” Harold - Natchitoches... home invasion and homicide assailant...
