Harrison read to me a little from Fellowship of the Rings tonight. The passage was about how much harder things actually are than they seem like they will be. The hobbits are crossing thick brush, and its really difficult to push through. He and I talked about how much like life that is, and how much truer the long (slightly boring) book passage is than the movie, or if the book had just said they strolled through the brush and then arrived. I asked him what it made him think of, and he said learning viola, which looks super easy when someone whos really skilled plays it, or hiking up Enchanted Rock, when we kept thinking we were almost at the top, and then wed see how much more distance there still was. Yup. We also watched the most recent episode of Doctor Who, which Tonie Knight and I enjoyed as much or more than Harrison did. One of the best episodes ever. Fantastic, seriously! Hope yall are doing well. I think about so many of you, so much of the time. Im happy Darren German closed a big sale at work! Im impressed and grateful at Apple Moskowitzs fine work putting together the poetry/film festival that inspired Cassidy Parker Knight and me to make this collaboration: https://m.youtube/watch?v=WdqzpMqO7hA Im thinking about Sam Armstrong and Chuck Bradford so much, and hoping something good happens, thinking it probably will, when everything has shaken out. I am super excited for Cristin O. Aptowicz and the many good things happening for her, and happy to be part of it. Did you know that today is Riley Kings birthday? It is. His story is so amazing and hope-giving, and resonant to me. Be well. Paz, y amor, y poesia.
