Harry Leslie Smith was born in the same year as my mother: 1923. I see many similarities. Their generation struggled through hardships to improve life for their offspring with the horror of two terrible wars freshly stamped on their memories and influencing every detail of their daily lives. It is shocking to witness how the rich devour all privileges, leaving those hard workers of post-war Europe to fend for themselves in the final stages of their lives under the pretense of making things better for future generations.
