Has Lovemore Madhuku Joined the Band of Mad Professors in ZANU PF? It seems that Professor Lovemore Madhuku has decided to join the circus clown car act with a blind driver and full of near sighted passengers that is ZANU PF. The comments attributed to the Professor in the Herald of yesterday leave one with the distinct impression that when someone is learned, has lost relevance and can tell a few lies, half truths and propaganda then siding with Robert Mugabe is way to go. The only choice the individual concerned has to make is to lose credibility. The list of mad professors in the ranks of ZANU is quite long Mutambara, Madhuku, Moyo, Mahoso. One common denominator of recent is that none of them ever makes any sense. The other could be that a collective appointment of these men at the hatters would make an interesting if not somewhat awkward business. It is certainly not polite company to be associated with. Those air heads could learn something from the words of the Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. “I too often find that most men have a misconception of the purpose of education. Most of them think that education should equip them with the proper instruments of exploitation so that they can forever trample over the masses. Still others think that education should furnish them with noble ends rather than means to an end. I often wonder whether or not education is fulfilling its purpose. A great majority of the so-called educated people do not think logically and scientifically. The most dangerous criminal may be the man gifted with reason, but with no morals. We must remember that intelligence is not enough. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education. The complete education gives one not only power of concentration, but worthy objectives upon which to concentrate. The broad education will, therefore, transmit to one not only the accumulated knowledge of the race but also the accumulated experience of social living. If we are not careful, our colleges will produce a group of close-minded, unscientific, illogical propagandists, consumed with immoral acts. Be careful, "brethren!" Be careful, teachers” Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr, 1947. Madhuku can continue to sing from same hymn sheet with Mugabe. He can try and deceive the people of Zimbabwe.
